Driver Killed After Rear-Ending Pickup, Bursting Into Flames In South Jersey

A driver was killed after he rear-ended a pickup truck, hit several trees and burst into flames in South Jersey, authorities said.

Troopers responded to a crash at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24 on Route 542 wast at milepost 14 in Washington Township, Burlington County.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Ford Mustang collided with the rear of the Ford F350 subsequently causing both vehicles to run off the road right and strike several trees, New Jersey State Police said.

After impact, the Ford Mustang became fully engulfed in flames. As a result of the crash, the driver of the Mustang sustained fatal injuries, police said.

The identity of the driver is pending confirmation.

There were no other reported injuries. 

The accident remains under investigation and there is no additional information available at this time.
